What you get on every calculator page

A result is only useful if you can tell where it came from. Each page is written to let you check the work.

The formula, spelled out

See the exact equation behind the number, with a worked example calculated by the same code that powers the tool.

Assumptions in plain view

Each page explains what the estimate includes, what it leaves out and where real-world results tend to differ.

Private by design

Calculations happen in your browser. The figures you type are not sent to our server or stored by these tools.

Sources you can follow

Tax, price-index and lending facts point to primary sources such as the IRS, the BLS and the CFPB.

Estimates, honestly labeled

Financial decisions deserve clear numbers and clear limits. This is how the site handles both.

  • Estimates, not advice. Results are general information based on the inputs you provide. They are not personalized financial, tax or legal advice.
  • Dated reference data. Tax brackets, state rates and price-index data were last reviewed in September 2026, and the pages say which year they use.
  • No pressure, no product pitches. There are no sign-up walls, and results are never adjusted to favor a lender, card or product.
  • Corrections welcome. If a result looks wrong, tell us using the contact form and we will look into it.
